Fallout 4 Sole Survivor: Progress Part 2

Fallout 4 Righteous Authority Continuing on with my Fallout 4 build (check out part 1!), I’ll now talk about the props I made. I decided to make Righteous Authority (pictured at left), a laser rifle, because its my favorite rifle in the game. Why? I don’t know, its not that amazing spec wise. But it looks cool and has a badass name. I also made the new pipboy, and some small pieces for the vaultsuit. I’ll admit I’m not exactly a props expert. When it comes to sewing, I’m obsessed with perfection and using professional techniques and materials. With props though… I just want it to kinda look like the thing I’m going for haha. I did get a ton of positive feedback on the rifle though, made me feel really good! :)

Fallout 4 Sole Survivor: Progress Part 1

fallout 4 sole survivor Ever since I played Fallout 4 when it first came out, I knew I’d be making that new vaultsuit. Its so much more interesting than the previous ones. I hunted ’round the internet for the right fabric and studied it for months and months before finally deciding to make it. I also decided to do some leather armor since I needed an excuse to learn leatherworking. This post will cover the vaultsuit and armor, and the next will cover the props.

Mermaid Ariel: Progress

Mermaid ArielI decided to make my own original version of mermaid Ariel for Momocon’s night at the Aquarium. I literally wanted to look like a disco ball, without the ball part. I got to fulfill my inner little girl and buy terrible sparkly sequin-y fabrics. I actually bought a lot more than in my finished version because I ran out of time, and it might’ve been too tacky anyway.

The top is a pre-made strapless bra that I covered with sparkly glitter ribbon. I sewed it on by hand. I also started to add rhinestones but realized it was sparkly enough, so I just left what I did.

Sakizou Garden Pansy: Progress

I made Sakizou’s Garden Pansy for a Sakizou Alice in Wonderland group at Katsucon 2016. The ensemble consists of a corset, weird separated sleeves, hoopskirt, fancy panties, fancy tights, ballet shoes, floral head hear, and a mask (which I didn’t make).

For the corset I used a custom underbust pattern I made for myself awhile back. The outer layers, consisting of dupioni silk, satin, and sateen, are wonderunder-ed to thick twill. The lining layer is dupioni silk. The overall corset construction I did is typical with a busk and grommetted back closure. I added most of the trim to the main part of the corset first, then added the cups (which I frankensteined out of an old bra and shoulder pads), then added the rest of the trim once those were sewn on.

Love Live! Valentine Honoka: Progress

Honoka_Valentines I made Love Live! Honoka, Valetine “Chocolate Hats” version with a group for Katsucon 2016. All of the fabric and notion choices were chosen and mailed to me by my group members. I used a variety of frankensteined patterns to come up with this outfit. I hand made all of my gold bias tape. The skirt is just a long rectangle that I pleated (after adding the trim to the bottom). Since I was able to use the patterns, this was a pretty straightforward, easy costume to make. Other group members made our hats and flags (shown in the gallery).

Love Live Snowy Mountain Honoka: Progress

Honoka_Snowy_Mountain For Katsucon 2016 I made Honoka’s Love Live! Snowy Mountain outfit for a group. There is not much to say about the construction. I draped the shape on my dressform and drew on the front cutout for my top pattern. The skirt is just 2 big circle skirts trimmed with ribbon, bias tape, and sherpa fur. I glued little flowers and rhinestones to the red bias tape. I made the headphones out of a headband and empty ribbon spools. I included lots of pics of that since it was probably the most interesting part of the costume. :) One of our group members made the suede corsets so they would match.
