I made this costume in 2021. The character is Lenore from Castlevania, her 4th season main dress.
I constructed this dress in two main pieces, the blue velvet dress (that I can wear separately as a “normal” dress), and the sheer chiffon underdress. The underdress has the collar details attached to it. The gown bodice has light boning to help keep the shape and make it stay up. I added horsehair braid to the bottom hem to give it a more defined shape.
I scalloped the edges of the sleeves and the gloves with my machine using a satin stitch over washable stabilizer. I also sewed the gloves completely with the stabilizer and washed it off afterwards, otherwise the chiffon was too slippery on its own. The jewelry is cut from leather and painted with Rub n’ Buff to look like metal. I did the same with the belt broach.
